My name is Jermieka Humphrey I am a mother, woman of God, friend, sister, supporter, listener, and confidant. Most of all I am ME! I’m a 31 yr old Detroit Native currently working as a Registered Nurse. I’m an alumni of the great Bethune-Cookman University! I love people and I love helping others being in the field as a nurse you tend to be the advocate for the patient giving them strength and encouragement and guiding them so what better way to incorporate those same great skills into such a great organization!
My Sister’s Keeper DVO is an organization that gives me and opportunity to help women of all ages be able to stand up and speak out. To be the voice that I once couldn’t be! Not necessarily being battered but fighting with self esteem issues, looking for love in the wrong places, broken trust and promises and all the other things that lead woman into being involved with destructive relationships. Certain situations that I allowed myself to be in I was able to be strong enough to remove myself before it got any worse but unfortunately we know all woman can’t always be that strong.. As co-chairman of this organization it is my mission to reach out to all ages and ethnicities to spread the word that it can happen to anybody and to take a stand against Domestic Violence serious! One hit, punch, slap, push ,or harsh word it’s is already 1 too many! Speak out! Speak Up! Be the Voice!
